Flash Fiction Month 2016, Day 9

Doctor Harris: “Log entry, July 9th, nine–”

[SOUND OF METAL BEING SCRAPED ACROSS BRICK]

Doctor Harris: “…nine…twenty-four pm. This will be–”

[LOUD CRASHING]

Doctor Harris: “…m-my final log. The Heracles Protocol was a succuss. Future generations must know this, but–”

[UNINTELLIGIBLE ROARING]

Doctor Harris: “…but it must not be repeated. The subject has become more than a soldier, yet…less than sane. He…it…seeks me. It seeks me with a fervour that can only–”

[HEAVY FOOTSTEPS]

Doctor Harris: “Oh God. Tell my wife–”

Undentified Voice: “FOUND YOU!”

[HIGH-PITCHED SCREAMS]

Unidentified Voice: “NOW IT MY TURN TO HIDE! COUNT TO HUNDRED! NO PEEKING!”

[DEEP, FADING LAUGHTER]

Doctor Harris: “Dammit, Steve! This serum makes them obsessed with Hide-and-Seek too!”
